Commission
/ Pricing Terms
A little about the work before getting to
economics. Each piece is meticulously created using the best references
available. Most habitat is also carved, although support pieces
may be natural driftwood or burl roots. Sculptures are carved,
sanded, scaled, handpainted in acrylics (vice airbrushing), and
sealed with a gloss (natural looking) finish.
Now
to economics: Prices listed in the Gallery are self explanatory.
Multiple purchases, particularly framed pieces which make a nice
set will likely receive a discount. New sculptures taken on commission
require a 25%, nonrefundable deposit of the agreed upon price.
The balance is due when the work is complete and prior to shipping/delivery.
Shipping (professionally done) costs are additional to sculpture
cost.
Sculpture
prices are based on complexity and to some degree size of the
piece. Smaller is not necessarily cheaper as carving small pieces
represents its own set of problems. The maximum size accepted
for commission is 30 inches.

Commission
work can usually be completed within 30 days. A shorter time period
could be worked out in special circumstances providing it will
not impact the quality of the work.
A
last comment, you may have seen other artists charging in the
thousands of dollars for work no more complex. The lesser prices
as read herein do not reflect a lesser quality. If a piece goes
out with Don's signature on it, he wants to take as much pride
in it as the new owner. He believes that art should be more affordable.
